What Does A Holiday Mean To You?
This Thursday is Thanksgiving and not too long after that it will be Christmas. What do they mean to you? Are they about turkey, ham, potatoes, pie, and gifts; or are they about what the truth of the holiday truly is. If you think these holidays are about turkey and gifts I am sorry to tell you that you’re wrong. I want to let you know the meaning of the upcoming holidays, the true meaning.
Way back in the days before we had cell phones, televisions, cars, and even automatic guns our ancestors set out for a journey to discover new land. In 1620 they found what is now known as the United States. They had no idea about the change in weather and climate. They landed near Cap Cod in New England. It is a cold part of the United States of today. The Indians helped the Pilgrims through the winter and taught them http://player.history.com/pservice/embed-player/?siteId=hist&tPid=3332163927the next year how to plant crops and harvest. Then in November of 1621 when all the crops were harvested the Pilgrims and the Indians sat down and had a fest.
Thanksgiving did not only last one day it lasted four days. It involved feasting, hunting, and socializing. There is a lot of history behind Thanksgiving. If it was not for the Indians almost 400 years ago we probably would not have Thanksgiving or even be here today. What does Thanksgiving mean to you?
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
I have heard so many things about Christmas. Some say it is a pagan holiday, others say it is just a day for businesses to make money, but what is the true meaning of Christmas?
If you have never been to church or picked up a Bible I am going to share the truth behind Christmas. Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ our Savior. Now He was not born on Christmas Day, he true birthday is unknown. According to the culture of the Romans and the records in history He was born in the Spring.
The Holy Bible is a truth bearing Word. It is the stories of what happened and what will happen. The Lord God Almighty has created us and has told us what will happen in end times.
Before Jesus was born His earthly father, Joseph, had to report to a census called by Caesar Augustus. According to Luck 2:4-7 he reported to Bethlehem. “4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.”
The birth of Christ was prophesied in the Old Testament Isaiah 7:14 “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanue.” Then 700 years later it came true.
Jesus had a purpose, we all have a purpose. The first day of Christmas his mother, Mary, was taken to a safe place by God. Jesus grew up, spread Salvation, and died on the cross. He the rose again the third day and forty days later ascended into Heaven. He will soon come back like a lion and rapture the ones whom are Saved and leave behind those who are not. Then all Hell will break lose. It will be a Holy War and in the end Jesus will win again. His first war was in Hell the next one will be on Earth.
My Opinion About Christmas
Christmas is not about getting gifts, cookies, music, or a ham. It is about forgiveness, giving, kindness, love, sharing, helping, and saving ones soul. Complaining about a gift you get or a burnt turkey makes Jesus cry. We should always be happy on Christmas Day. So this year wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas! Not a Happy Holiday.
